The proposed deal, which would have kept Horning as chairman, was leaked anonymously, leading Horning to state the ski area was not for sale. Prohaska stated her resignation was to allow the community to heal and rebuild trust, acknowledging the "fiasco" had caused a loss of trust in local government. Telluride Mayor Teddy Errico supports the investigation, emphasizing the need to restore trust and focus on community issues. Prohaska's family has deep roots in the Telluride resort's history.
